Nur, wenn man Modern Arnis macht. Dann kann man Namen wie Rene Tongson, Rodel Dagooc und Cristion Vasquez schon mal gehört haben. Ausserhalb des Modern Arnis eher weniger.

Klar, Cristino Vasquez, 9. Dan, hat mitte der 60er Jahre bei Remy Presas in Negros Occidental angefangen zu trainieren. Er ist Cousin der Presas Brüder. Unterrichte Spezialeinheiten und Sicherheitsdienste im Modern Arnis. Ist neben Rene Tongson verantwortlich für alle Modern Arnis Prüfungen ab dem 3. Dan.

Rene Tongson, 8. Dan, ebenfalls Cousin der Presas Brüder begann schon beim Vater von Remy und Ernesto Anfag der 60er Jahre zu trainieren. Neben dem Modern Arnis trainierte er noch intensive bei Großmeister Mateo Estolloso, der hauptsächlich den Abanico Stil trainierte, aber auch noch andere Stile, z.B. Trespuntas.

Er ist Abgeordneter im Parlament von Tagaytay und ist Direktor (Vorsitzender) der des Nationalen Coffee Development Board, das direkt von der Präsidentin der Philippinen einberufen wurde.

Im Augenblick wichtigster Mann in der IMAF (International Modern Arnis Federation) auf den Philippinen.



Jerry de la Cruz, 8. Dan hat schon andere Stile betrieben, bevor er 1970 Professor Remy Presas traf. Er war vom Modern Arnis so überzeugt, so dass er sich diesem Stil anschloss. Im Jahre 1995 gründete er auf der Basis des Modern Arnis das Arnis Cuzada. Er unterrichtet auch viele Polizei und Sicherheitspersonal und war auch häufig im mittleren Osten, um dort Arnis zu unterrichten.

Jeremias V. de la Cruz (Senior Master Guro Jerry) began practicing Modern Arnis in 1970 at NAKO/MAFP (National Amateur Karate Organization / Modern Arnis Federation of the Philippines) gym owned by the Presas Family in Manila, Philippines. After getting his degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1969, he pursued a career in martial arts. He was one of the original students and instructor of GM Remy A. Presas. In 1982, he performed in a martial arts exhibition in Nevada, USA with GM Remy A. Presas and Roland Dantes.

Senior Master Guro Jerry worked as Arnis/Karate/Kickboxing Instructor in various gyms in the Philippines, such as NAKO/MAFP (1970 - 1978); Raymond Velayo Martial Arts And Fitness Gym (1976 - 1989), and in countries such as State of Doha, Qatar (1994 - 1998); Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (1998 - 2000). He had conducted series of seminars/lectures in Arnis throughout the Philippines. He was employed as faculty member and martial art Instructor for Arnis in such renowned universities as De LaSalle (1977 - 1985) and Ateneo De Manila (1995 - 1998). Aside from Arnis, he has profound mastery of Karate, Kickboxing, and combat Aikido.

Jeremias de la Cruz holds a rank of Lakan Antas Walo (8th) in Modern Arnis and was promoted by GM Remy A. Presas in 1999. He has been practicing and teaching Arnis for over 30 years. At present, he is Chief Instructor of Arnis Cruzada Philippines and Senior Instructor of Arnis Association International




Rodel Dagooc, 8. Dan war neben dem Ende der 80 er Jahre verstorbenen Willie Annang einer der besten und wichtigsten Modern Arnis Meister, nachdem Remy Presas 1975 die Philippinen verlassen musste.

Rodillo B. Dagooc (Senior Master Guro Del) has been a personal friend of the Presas Family since the early years of NAKO/MAFP (National Amateur Karate Organization / Modern Arnis Federation of the Philippines) gym established in Manila, Philippines in 1969 by spouses Grand Master Remy A. Presas and Rosemary Pascual Presas. He was one of the original students and instructor of GM Remy A. Presas. After three years of extensive training in Modern Arnis and Karate under the tutelage of GM Remy A. Presas, he was promoted to Master and became Instructor from 1972 to 1980.

When GM Remy A. Presas left for the United States, he was a vital instrument in the propagation of Modern Arnis in the Philippines. As a martial arts instructor, Senior Master Guro Del taught Modern Arnis to the following government agencies and private sports clubs:

Senior Master Guro Del was an official delegate of the Philippines to Osaka, Japan at the International Trade Fair in 1978, representing Modern Arnis. He became an International Judge/Referee in Martial Arts in South East Asian Games in 1991. World Head of Family Sokeship Council International Hall of Fame in Florida, USA, inducted him as Master Instructor in 1997. In 1999, he staged a Modern Arnis demonstration at the 4th World Amateur Muay Thai Championship in Bangkok, Thailand. From 1981 - 1999, he had conducted seminars in Australia, Brunei, Mexico, Spain, Israel, Italy and United States of America.

Vincente Sanchez, 8. Dan, trainiert FMA seit Anfang der 60 Jahre, damals u.A. den Cinco Teros Stil. Als Schauspieler und Stuntman kam er 1973 bei den Dreharbeiten zu Pacific Connection in Kontakt mit Professor Presas und dem Modern Arnis. Er doubelte in den Kampfszenen den Schauspieler Guy Madison, der im Film die Rolle des Vaters von Roland Dantes spielte.
Er ist neben dem Modern Arnis einer der zentralen Personen im Lightning Scientific Arnis von dem verstorbenen Großmeister Benjamin Lema.

Vicente R. Sanchez (Senior Master Guro Vic) has been a personal friend of the Presas Family since the early years of MAFP (Modern Arnis Federation of the Philippines) gym established in Manila, Philippines by spouses Grand Master Remy A. Presas and Rosemary Pascual Presas. He studied and became a master of four major arnis techniques, namely: Cinco Terros, Kasilagan, Modern Arnis and Tersia, Cerada, Cadenilla, y Espada y Daga. He devoted most of his Arnis life, however, in Modern Arnis, which he had been propagating for almost 30 years in the Philippines. He joined the pool of instructors of MAFP that trained Philippine Coast Guard (1980-1981); and Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, Philippine Army (1980-1983).

In 1974, thru the leadership of GM Remy A. Presas, Vicente Sanchez (together with Roland Dantes, Mary Ann Presas, and Willie Annang) represented the Philippines' Department of Tourism at the International Trade Fair in Osaka, Japan. In 1975, he conducted Arnis seminars participated by coaches, principals, teachers, and P.E. (Physical Education) instructors throughout the Philippines sponsored by Department of Education, Culture, and Sports. In 1992, he was Coach of Philippine Arnis Team during the second World WEKAP Arnis Tournament. In 2000, he worked as Arnis consultant of "Arnis Train the Trainers" program sponsored by Philippines Defense Secretary Orlando Mercado that was attended by delegates from Armed Forces of the Philippines, Department of Education and Culture, and Department of Local Government.

Samuel Dulay, 6. Dan trainiert Modern Arnis seit Mitte der 70er Jahre, zunächst primär bei Ernesto Presas, von dem er sich aber später trennte. Bei den Besuchen von Großmeiser Remy Presas auf den Philippinen in den letzten Jahren war er dessen Haup-Trainingspartner. Er ist der Geschäftsführer der IMAF auf den Philippinen.
