1st Kachin Martial Arts Exhibition - The Martial Arts of Northern Burma
Limited DVD

What is it? It's an exhibition of mostly young local performers and masters from Myitkhina City. The program is a celebration of the local culture through one aspect: martial arts. It does not represent all the Kachin masters or systems in any way. Some of the local Masters I met beyond the exhibition either chose not to participate or were not asked for various reasons. It's a organized event done in the format of the National Thaing Organization presentations. They generally work with a standardized model of forms and presentation.
This particular project has an interesting cross section of sword forms and later I will use a few of them to illustrate cross culture links and differences from those in Laos, Thailand and Cambodia when we specifically talk about weapons.
