I was looking through some old discussions. I found this one. I thought it was a good one to start toshare my knowledge an experience in JKD.

As we all know Linda Lee felt that something was wrong in the JKD world back in 1996. She invited most of the active, and some of the inactive original Bruce lee students to talk about the situation of JKD in the world.

On this meeting they decided to use the word Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do on Bruce lee's teachings.

So according to me the question we should ask is

What is JKD, Jun Fan JKD and jun fan Gung Fu?

Unfortunatel I have to drive my daughter to a birthday party. But I hope that we will get many diffrent answers on this question. I will of course also give my point of view.

So how do I look at JKD

Jun Fan JKD

This is the name I use for what was before called "Original JKD". It is sthe stuff "Bruce lee was doing when he was doing it". It is the total package of Bruce Lee. His evolution in martial arts from Seattle to los Angeles, His filmmaking, his philosophy his training methods.

This is the information I think is the launching pad for every individuals journey into JKD. The Root of JKD, becuase when we understand the root, we understand all the Blossoming. This will keep us on the right track in JKD

Jun Fan Gung Fu

This to me is the early part of Jun fan JKD, The Art Bruce Lee taught at his schools and what his martial art looked liked before he coined the term JKD

When looking at the curriculum in his schols and his private lessons we see this difference. We can also see the difference in certificates. to get a JKD certificate you had to be personally taught by Bruce Lee.

Jun Fan Gung Fu is also used as the term for bruce lee's personal art in some JKD approaches. Those who are not active in the Bruce Lee Founhdation and use the name Jun Fan JKD for Bruce Lee's personal style use he ame Jun fan Gung Fu as bruce Lee's personal style

Jeet Kune Do

This takes us to the name JKD. For those who use Jun fan Gung Fu as bruce Lee's personal style use the name JKD as every persons personal style. For those who use Jun fan JKD as a launching pad use the term JKD only it can be linked to something Bruce did.

It all has to do with the quote

"My truth is not your truth, and your truth is not my Truth"

JKD is all about looking for ones own truth. The question remains, is ANYTHING you find JKD or is it JKD only if you find the same thing as your truth that bruce lee Found

The difference is that some say that any technique is JKD as long as you follow your own truth, others say that only if you use a technique from Jun Fan JKD/Jun fan Gung Fu can a technique be considered JKD

Interpretating quotes is like reading statistics, they can be twisted to your own benefit. This is simply my own way of intrepretating what JKD is alla about. I hope to read some of your thoughts o this subject.
