LESLEY SACKEY - BOXER (27, FROM LONDON)

Lesley took the gold in the ABA European Unions in August 2008 and the ABA British Champion Welterweight title in 2007. She’s currently in the selection process for Team GB in the 2012 Olympics - as women boxers prepare to take part for the first time. Not bad for someone who only started boxing four years ago, having never taken part in any sport! She was raised in North London by her mum and her two brothers.

ALEX ALAM - FITNESS GURU (19, FROM ESSEX)

The youngest of the competitors Alex probably has the most strings to her bow. At only 19 she has qualified as a personal trainer, competed at gym fitness, show jumping & cross country, and body building. Despite all this she is still very girlie…her Chihuahua is called ‘Jimmy Choo’ after her favourite shoes!


ANNA CAMPBELL - WAKEBOARDER (23, FROM KENYA)

Anna was born in Kenya to an ex pat family who then sent her to boarding school in the U.K. when she was twelve. But don’t be fooled by the accent, Anna might sound posh but her privileged background has led her to challenge herself with some of the most extreme and dangerous water sports on earth. She wakeboards, kite surfs, drives power boats and will turn her hand to anything as long as it feeds the adrenaline junkie in her.


JONI SWANSTON - RUGBY PLAYER (23, FROM NORTHERN IRELAND)

Joni’s played rugby for Richmond and Ulster and she’s also represented Ireland at sailing and Northern Ireland at netball. She is well known for her wicked sense of humour, her determination and for being very competitive. She’s also tough as nails and doesn’t take kindly to anyone moaning, giving up or anyone foolish enough to suggest that women are not as good at sport as men!


NATALIE SMITH - KETTLEBELL LIFTER (24, FROM NEWCASTLE)

Geordie Natalie is a kettle bell lifter and an endurance runner. Her mother left the family home when she was very young. She turned to sport as a way of staying positive and to keep her from the temptations of ‘living in a rough area’. Until she retired from dancing when she was 18 she was an Adult Champion and she still manages to make time to cycle, rock climb and for long distance running, including the Great North Run.
