Alliance Team takes the Pan 2010 Title

Alliance Team won the team competition going away leading the second place getter by 100 points. "Jacare" and Gurgel were ecstatic, as Romero put it: "We are sending a message announcing our intentions for the Worlds. We will be here with an even stronger team with the addition of Marcelo Garcia and some other names that couldn't make it to the Pan".

Gurgel: "Once again we've shown that our team's hard work pays. They all are to be congratulated for their efforts."

Marcelo Garcia confirmed: "Yes I'll be competing in the Worlds. I am training hard and preparing for it."

Ladies weight and Absolute Champion Luana Alzuguir: "I am very happy and now it's on to the World Pro BJJ."

Luana leaves for Abu Dhabi this week along with many of her Alliance teammates to participate in the World BJJ Pro.

Royler Gracie: "Overall our team did very well, we missed the masters and seniors title by very few points. I am happy with our team competitors "

Kayron Gracie on his win: "I am very happy with my win. They were tough matches I am glad I came on top."

Carlos Gracie Jr (Kayron's dad) on his son's win: "He has been competing for quite some time and al that experience and dedication helped today. I am very proud of him"

Carlos Gracie Jr on the growth and success of the Pan: "It is the result of a lot of hard work by many people and it shows that Jiu-Jitsu is more than a sport, it is a passion for me, you and many others!"

Bernardo Faria and Luana Alzuguir are the name of the Pan

Both winning their weight and Absolute titles. Bernardo had a last minute reversal on Antonio Braga Neto to take the title by points. He was behind on the score and locked an "omoplata that Braga Neto defended valiantly and just as time was about to expire Bernardo released the hold going to the back scoring the points for the reversal.

Luana showed that she is in a great phase winning all her fights and splitting the absolute with teammate Gabrielle Garcia.

The New Kids are coming

It was quite impressive to see the new kids rising to the top. While many of them have been competing and serving notice along the years in the lower belts it is important to note their arrival. Bernardo is one of the names of course, Michael Langhi, Lucas Lepri, Abmar Barbosa, Luana Alzuguir and Hillary Williams. One big note for Kayron Gracie, in his first competition as a Black Belt Kayron not only took the title but defeated former World Champion Sergio Moraes in the process. Kayron is a veteran of competition in the lower belts but in his first foray as a Black Belt displayed a maturity beyond his years. Congrats!
