OBERHAUSEN, Germany – Karlos Vemola, Dennis Siver, Pascal Krauss and Mark Scanlon each earned $60,000 "Fight Night" bonuses for their performances at Saturday's "UFC 122: Marquardt vs. Okami" event.
Vemola earned the night's "Knockout of the Night" award, Siver picked up the "Submission of the Night" bonus, and Krauss and Scanlon shared "Fight of the Night" honors.
MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com (http://www.mmajunkie.com)) learned of the bonus winners and award amounts while at UFC 121's post-event press conference.
UFC 122 took place at Konig Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany, and the night's main card aired in the U.S. via same-delay on Spike TV.
Vemola, a former heavyweight making his light-heavyweight debut, dazzled on the night's preliminary card with a first-round TKO of Seth Petruzelli. The Czech fighter simply outstruck and overpowered his opponent, and after a vicious string of punches left Petruzelli bleeding profusely, the referee halted the bout at the 3:46 mark of the opening round.
Siver, a German fighter who received a huge ovation from his fellow countrymen, displayed his steadily improving striking and quietly has moved to 4-1 over his five UFC fights with a main-card victory. Siver dropped fellow lightweight Andre Winner with a left hook, pounded him with additional shots on the mat, and then cinched a rear-naked choke at the 3:37 mark of the opening round to force the tap-out.
Krauss and Scanlon, two undefeated UFC newcomers, competed on the night's preliminary card. After a slow start, German fighter Krauss gained some momentum that he'd carry through all three rounds. The fight, which included some surprisingly entertaining ground fighting and big cheers, resulted in a unanimous-decision victory for Krauss.
