Q: Vladimir, how was the training in Kislovodsk?
V: This time in comparisson to the training for Werdum there were no injuries and we could do the whole preparations. We had a preparation of two weeks before Kislovodsk and over three weeks training in Kislovodsk. We did a lot of preparations there the accent was to raise the functionalities of his body. This week we will complete the main stage of the training and start with the fight preparations.
Q: How much has Fedor's training plan changed in this period?
V: We will train specific facets. Fedor will train with fighters who parallely train for the Russian Sambo Championsship and M-1 Challenge XXIII.
Q: Is the emphasis more on the striking or grappling?
V: The training is absolutely equivalent. We give our attention to both, striking and grappling. Since Fedor is universal athlete he trains equally striking and grappling. I repeat, he is healthy and that's why we don't prefer one before the other.
Q: You probably have watched a lot of Silva's fights. Tell us about his strengths and weaknesses.
V: Silva - is a fighter who is similar to Fedor with his universality. Apparently he wants to fight standing since he emphasises his striking. That's why he will try to fight standing. The ground - is not the strongest aspect of the brazilian but he is very comfortable there.
Q: Who would you especially watch closer?
V: It's interesting to see the current champion Alistair Overeem. Josh Barnett is also interesting. Actually it will be interesting to watch every fighter.
Q: As you mentioned Josh Barnett who was caught using steroids, which supplements and vitamins does Fedor uses?
V: Fedor doesn't use supplements, he eats natural products: honey, dried apricots and so on. We absolutely don't use chemical substances and never used. Even when we were in the national team of Sambo and Judo we never used them.
