Pride Chief says Mirko should win GP before next title shot
The Japanese fight magazine "WEEKLY GONG" this week has the below interesting quotes from Nogueira and Pride President Sakakibara:-

Nogueira said:- "This was the most difficult fight of my life. Mirko was as I expected a very dangerous opponent who is very fast. I think everybody watched this match as a battle between a stiker and a grappler; but as I expected I could prove that I was the more complete fighter than Mirko."

Nogueira also said:- "Now I want to challenge Fedor for the PRIDE HW title in Pride's next show on 1 February 2004 at Osaka Dome." Pride President Sakakibara replied:- "We understand Nogueira's intentions and we will try to make this title match for 1 February 2004."

Pride President Sakakibara said: "I want to send this message to Mirko. Even though you lost, after the fight I watched you as you watched Nogueira's celebrations in the ring. I think I understood your feelings. I want you to aim to go to the PRIDE Heavyweight Grand Prix to fight against Fedor and Nogueira. Today you met a mountain that you could not overcome. I think that you should challenge this mountain."

So it sounds like Pride wants Mirko to win the HW GP before he gets another shot at the title

Hätte ich das Ergebnis dieses Kampfes nicht vorher gewusst, wäre mir nur schwerlich klar gewesen, wie Minotauro das Ding noch hätte rumreissen können...der musste ja echt harte Teile einstecken.Allerdings konnte man von ausgehen, dass Minotauro nicht so leicht fällt, wie andere, denn wer die Fäuste von Fedor frisst (Heath Herring hatte ihm damals auch schön eingeschenkt, obwohl er klar dominiert wurde) und immer noch blinzeln kann, der wird auch einem CroCop das Leben schwer machen.Unglaublich was der schlucken kann...neben seiner Überlegenheit am Boden, wohl ein weiteres Problemchen mit dem seine Gegner klarkommen müssen...oberhart der Mann.
Und da brüllen die UFC-Leute, nach Tim Sylvia's Titelgewinn (UFC 44), der könnte es mit allen HW der Welt locker aufnehmen...tsss...schade das Sylvia zurückgetreten ist, den hätten sie mal zum Pride schicken und, zu Fedor oder Minotauro, in den Ring werfen sollen.
DAS hätte mich doch wirklich interessiert.
