YouTube - ‪Sun Bin Quan (???)‬‏ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtbxV2Gsne4&feature=related)

Sun Tzu Bingfa (The Art of War) essays by General Sun Tzu, sometimes referred to as Sun Tzi, in the State of Wu. The custom in China generally allowed for book titles to begin with the author's name. Variations in the naming also include Sun Zi Pingfa. Related works by others following on the heels of the Bingfa include Strategies of the Warring States (author ?) and The Master of Demon Valley attributed to Wang Li (Sun Tzu II). Apparently Sun Tzu's great-grandson Sun Pin (Sun Bin) continued his ancestor's work. The young Sun Bin possessed exceptional military strategic talent, able to recite whole sections of Sun Tzus Art of War from memory. This ability created both admiration and jealousy among his classmates, especially for Pang Juan, who would eventually become a general for the State of Wei. While serving in Wei, Pang Juan tricked Sun into entering the state, and then had him framed as a traitor. But because of his admiration, Pang had Sun crippled not killed by having his ankle tendons cut so that his friend and rival could not take part in wars. Sun was given the name Bin (corporal punishment). Sun Bin escaped, and after healing in the State of Qi, was appointed as principal military advisor to the King of Qi.

After many victories and many years, Sun Bin retired from the military and wrote The Art of Warfare, a focused development of Sun Tzus work. His students watched and learned, and mimicked Sun Bins fighting style, eventually developing forms into the Sun Bin system 32 form, 64 form, and 96 form.
Essentially, the style is a Long Fist form. But beyond this similarity, practitioners see in Sun Bin forms everything from White Ape to Mei Hua Plum Blossom boxing which came out of Sun Bin Chuan. One famous practitioner, Yang Min Tzai aka Blind Yang, adds many stories to the history of Sun Bin:
After Blind Yang had trained for many years, he moved to the special district of Chin Dao, where he trained teachers. All of the other teachers in the district thought that they should challenge Blind Yang, to test him and his style. Two went to Blind Yangs house to propose the challenge when they saw him on the other side of the courtyard (about 30 feet). While sitting, Blind Yang picked up a horse-drawn millstone (about 60 pounds) and threw it to land at the challengers feet. They looked at each other in surprise, then left. They never bothered him again.

Today, Sun Bin practitioners find the style complex and surprising. And while very few schools teach Sun Bin, some advocates are happy to dedicate their primary martial study to unlocking the complex style. As one student said recently, Ive been doing Sun Bin for years, but the more you do the forms, the more you find.
