I just learned the following from Chris Kent's facebook page:
"I just received news that my JKD comrade and friend, Steve Connolly, passed away on October 31st in Hawaii. He was 56 years old.Steve's background in JKD goes back to the very early days at the Filipino Kali Academy in Torrance, Ca. in which he was part of the senior JKD class. I was told that Steve had been diagnosed with cancer as well as liver and kidney problems, however did not tell anyone of his illness. I have posted a couple of photos for those of you who remember him, as well as those who never had the chance to meet him. Farewell my friend and God speed on the next part of your journey."

Steve was a good guy and one of the senior group at the Kali Academy. I had just gotten back in touch with him, and we planned to get together when I was in Hawaii in Jan. He never mentioned that he was sick, but that was his way.
