Dachte ich teile das mal. Der aus dem Videoforum eher bekannte Izzo schreibt wohl an einem Buch über Wing Chun, welches wohl kurz vor der Fertigstellung steht. Sein Abstract zu dem Buch hat er gepostet, ich stell das mal hier rein.
If you want to know how Wing Chun came to be, or the history of Wing Chun, please check out one of the many books written over the years or do an online search. This book is not about the history of Wing Chun. I won’t be talking about the debate as to whether or not a Buddhist Nun created the system, nor who, under which lineage has the “correct” or “true” Wing Chun.
What I will be writing about is what Wing Chun is today…and today, Wing Chun is dead.
OBITUARY
Wing Chun, a complete system of fighting from Southern China, born about 300 years ago, rumored to have been created by a woman and known for its simultaneous “attack and defense” theory has reportedly succumb to its injuries after fighting its long bought with in-fighting, factions and fame.
Survived by it’s dysfunctional family of broken lineages, manipulative grandsmasters, self proclaimed rightful heirs, experts who scream “only I have the true art” and infamous unadoptable offspring, Jeet Kune Do, it suffered a slow death from being over produced, watered down, misrepresented, shamefully guarded, left open to interpretation while being made to fit in a box and mystified by those unwilling to put it to the test.
Wing Chun, the once King of Martial Arts, has been granted eternal rest in a grave of its own making and covered in dirt by its critics…
Yet it will be from it’s own grave that Wing Chun shall rise again in a blaze of flames, reborn like the legendary Phoenix, and reclaim its place in Martial Arts history, to cleanse and purify its former image while quieting naysayers and satisfying critics. Wing Chun, Eternal Springtime, will live once again.
WHAT WING CHUN IS
In a simply put sentence, Wing Chun is SURVIVAL.
By its definition, Wing Chun is a labeled as a simultaneous “attack and defense” Martial Art, used to terminate a threat by using skills which are simple, effective and devastating. However, more simply put, Wing Chun is a Martial Art mindset and physical skill set used to survive any threat by any means necessary. Wing Chun is War.
Wing Chun is an underdog Martial Art which has survived the test of time in its combat efficiency…until now. Now it has become parody and a system of theory and "what if" to a new student's question of "how can it deal with?"
Wing Chun’s death was slowly brought on by avoidable symptoms, mostly of improbability and ignorance. Yes…Wing Chun was killed by stupidity.
To date, the world of Martial Arts is plagued by online critics who wouldn’t know a real fight if it punched them in the face. And if it did, they would most likely state that the punch their opponent threw, was done wrong.
Wing Chun is faced, daily, by such amazing scrutiny, criticism and in-effectiveness that I fear the only way any one will ever be satisfied that Wing Chun works, is to face an opponent 100 lbs heavier, jacked up on steroids, trained by the Gracie’s, Mayweather’s and Bruce Lee's reanimated corpse, who has been caged for years never seeing the sun, fed only raw meat, forced to play GTA and brainwashed by Hitler-like propaganda that the world is better with hate at the helm...but even then, if you win, they will say he had a cold.
If you are new to Wing Chun Kung Fu, you need to know that it is a way of life as much as it is a Martial Art. It is physical sense, Wing Chun is a trained skill set which when employed, destroys any threat with the simplest, most economical and devastating methods possible.
