Sad News – Japan Karate Association :: JKA :: Welcome to the World Headquarters of Karate (http://jka.or.jp/en/news/sad-news.html)

Dear all JKA members,

We are sad to have to inform you that our second chief Instructor, Mr. Hatsukuni Sugiura passed away at the age of 90, at 18:23 on 10th August, 2015.

The funeral ceremony was held on 13th and 14th August at his residence.

Although we would have liked to inform you all of the ceremony sooner, respecting the bereaved family’s intentions, only JKA directors, graduates of Asia University and limited related persons attended the ceremony.

Japan Karate Association has decided to hold a memorial service in memory of the late Sensei Sugiura to talk and reminisce about his distinguished achievements and personality. We are now in the process of organizing this service.

We will inform you all of further details nearer the time.

Your attendance is warmly requested.

Yours sincerely,

Masaki Ueki

Chief Instructor

Gerade heute habe ich ein Interview mit Stan Schmidt gelesen, darunter auch diesen Ausschnitt

(Interviewer)
You have a huge knowledge of kata Bunkai. Rarely however do we see many Japanese Instructors teaching kata Bunkai in their classes.

(Stan Schmidt)
Some do, some don’t. Sugiura Sensei Chief Instructor of JKA Japan and Ueki Sensei do quite a lot of bunkai in their seminars.

Möge sein Bunkai Vermächtnis weiterleben.
