He is the last of the Original Cañete Brothers (1st Generation of Cañete family practicing the art). I belong to the 3rd Generation of this proud Cañete lineage of Eskrimadors. We visited my Lolo Cacoy last January 4 at ChongHua Hospital along with my siblings and son Arjay Cañete. I am the first one who entered his room located on the 9th floor. I feel sudden sadness in my heart to see him in his health condition (IV tube, blood transfusion, oxygen) and I could hardly say anything to him to comfort my Lolo except saying "Kumusta" then I touch his forehead to tell him I truly care. I hurriedly went out of the room and cried coz I couldn't accept his condition. After probably 5 mins, I went back and this time my sister talked to him and his reply to her was. "I wish I could reach a 100 years or even twice for he is a strong warrior. Fighting the Japanese during the 2nd World War. Till now I have those words in my Heart that a miracle would come and grant his wishes. My sister Amy, brother Arnold, my son Arjay and I knew for the fact that my Lolo Cacoy still has a very sharp mind at 96 like during his younger days during the war yet his physically condition slowly fails him... We left him and once again I pat his forehead with a short prayer...
