Die German Tung Kong Chow Gar Tong Long Association geht neue Wege in Deutschland und schließt sich mit dem Schweizer Headquater unter den Namen Chow Gar Hakka Tong Long United zusammen.

Ich habe bisher das Chow Gar der Hang Ng Linie unter Teddy Lai seit 2009 trainiert. Aus verschiedenen Gründen habe ich mich aber vor zwei Jahren entschlossen, meine Chow Gar Ausbildung in der Ip Chee Keung Linie unter Sifu Reto Turnell, Schüler von Paul Whiterod weiterzuführen. Auch besteht enger Kontakt zu Ip Chee Keung, der mir dieses Jahr offiziell die Erlaubnis erteilt hat, im Namen der Ip - Familie zu unterrichten.

Somit bieten wir nun in Deutschland das Chow Gar Hakka Tong Long unter der schweizer Schirmherrschaft an.
Ab nächsten Jahr findet ein neuer Ausbilderkurs in Deutschland unter mir und meinem Freund und Sifu Reto Turnell statt.
Geplant sind Seminare und auch Trainingsreisen nach Hong Kong und in die Schweiz.

Ich habe mich zu diesem Schritt entschlossen, da ich das echte Chow Gar der Ip Familie vertiefen und verbreiten möchte. Unter Sifu Reto habe ich diese Möglichkeit. Auch ermöglicht mir Sifu Reto Turnell meine Ausbildung zusätzlich in Hong Kong unter verschiedenen Lehrer der Ip Familie fortzusetzen.

Das Chow Gar Tong Long ist immer noch wenig vertreten in Europa, ausser in UK. In England, Wales, Schottland und Irland hat es etliche Schulen und auch offizielle Sifu's. Für UK ist Sifu Paul Whitrod verantwortlich. Deswegen erstaunt es nicht, dass auch in Europa die meisten offiziellen Sifu's von ihm abstammen. Sifu Whitrod ist der älteste Schüler von Grossmeister und Stilhalter Ip Chee Keung aus Hong Kong. Zu dem war er closed door student von dem verstorbenen Stiloberhaupt Grossmeister Ip Shui. In Europa gibt folgende Chow Gar Sifus (UK nicht aufgezählt): Klaus Brinkmann (Deutschland), Simone Raimondi (Italien), Balint (Ungarn), Leonhart Pfeifer (Portugal) und Reto Turnell (Schweiz). Daneben gibt es ein paar Instruktoren: zB. Michael Kocher aus Nürnberg. Weitere Instruktoren gibt es in Frankreich, Griechenland, Spanien, Portugal, ... Deswegen werden Michael Kocher und Reto Turnell ab nächstem Jahr in Deutschland eine Instruktoren Ausbildung für das Chow Gar Tong Long anbieten. Infos folgen...

Ab nächstem Jahr (April 2020) werden wir in Nürnberg mit einem Instruktoren-Kurs für Chow Gar Tong Long Kung Fu starten. Alle drei Monate wird ein intensiv Ausbildungswochenende angeboten. Der ganze Kurs dauert 36 Monate mit 12 Wochenend-Modulen. Das Programm ist sehr vielfältig und intensiv. Es werden alle Aspekt des Chow Gars unterrichtet: Formen, Techniken, Partner-Drills, Waffen, Strategien, Qi Gong und vieles mehr. Der Kurs ist für alle Niveaus offen und auch für Personen aus anderen Stylen zugänglich. Instruktor Michael Koche und Sifu Reto Turnell freuen sich auf diesen Kurs, der in Deutschland einmalig ist.

Wieso beginnt ihr direkt mit einem Instructor Kurs? Solltet ihr vielleicht nicht erstmal normale Schüler für euch gewinnen?

Nein, das Chow Gar von Ali Ol hat mit unserem Chow Gar außer dem Namen nichts gemein. Deswegen schreiben wir auch Tung Kong Chow Gar Tong Long.

Chow Gar Tong Long (周家螳螂) is a southern Chinese martial art and is one of the four major schools in Southern Praying Mantis. It is an aggressive style with emphasis on close range fighting. These skills are developed by utilizing a range of training techniques which have been developed over several centuries.
This style is not related to Jow-Ga Kung Fu(周家), a southern Chinese martial art founded by Jow Lung in the early 1900s.
History
The history of Chow Gar Praying Mantis was transmitted orally with little supporting documentation until the 1900s. The origins of Chow Gar are similar to other martial arts of the Hakka community with references to the Southern Shaolin monastery and exploits centered around Southern China. Information prior to the turn of the century is speculative at best. In the modern era, Lau Soei is recognized by both the Chow Gar and Chu Gar practitioners as the leading promoter of this style. The leading authorities on Chow Gar are the students of Yip Shui and their schools can be found worldwide.
Chow Ah Naam
According to Chow Gar tradition, the founder of the style was Chow Ah Naam (周亞南) who lived in the 1800s. He had spent many years in the Southern Shaolin Monastery under the guidance of the abbot Sim See Yan. He created a new style which he called Praying Mantis from watching a fight between a praying mantis and a bird. His style is not related to the Northern Praying Mantis created by Wang Lang (王朗) during the Song Dynasty (960-1279). Ah Naam taught the style to many people in the region and one of his students was Wong Fook Go.
Wong Fook Go
Wong Fook Go (黃福高) was initially a lay person but later became a traveling monk. He travelled throughout Southern China including Wai Yearn village in the area of Tung Kung (East River).
Lau Soei (1866-1942)
Lau Soei (劉瑞; 誠初; 劉水) was an accomplished teacher of the martial arts in his home village of Wai Yearn in Southern China before meeting Wong Fook Go. Oral traditions suggested that Lau challenged Wong and was soundly defeated by Wong. Lau then became a student of Wong and became proficient in the Chow Gar Southern Praying Mantis. Using this knowledge, he further enhanced his reputation and earned the nickname as the "Number one of the three tigers of Dong Jiang (東江三虎之一).
In 1913, Lau Soei moved to Hong Kong and established a Southern Praying Mantis school in Kowloon. Initially, he would teach his system only to members of the Hakka community. Near the end of his career, he opened his teachings to the general public. Yip Shui was one of his first non-Hakka students. Lau Soei died in 1942.
Yip Shui (1912-2004)
Yip Shui (葉瑞; 啟瑞) continued on the tradition of Lau Soei after living and training extensively with Lau Soei. He established a reputation for the effectiveness of the Chow Gar style by meeting all challenges. He worked hard to teach and promote this style. Yip Shui died in 2004.
Yip Chee Keung
Yip Chee Keung, the son of Yip Shui, continues the family tradition as a promoter of this system. Chee Keung emigrated to London, England in the 1970s. He established a Chow Gar Southern Mantis School there.
Paul Whitrod
Paul Whitrod started his training with Yip Chee Keung at that school in 1974. Paul is now the UK representative for Chow Gar.

Das Programm des Instruktoren-Kurses ist an das Instruktoren-Programm meines Sifus Paul Whitrod aus London angelehnt. Es geht darum, dass Interessierte, ob Anfänger, Fortgeschrittene oder auch Leute aus anderen Stylen, die Möglichkeit bekommen, das originale Chow Gar Tong Long aus der Linie Yip Shui - Yp Chee Keung (das momentane Oberhaupt des Chow Gars) - Paul Whitrod zu erlernen. Der Kurs dauert 36 Monate, sprich alle 3 Monate ist ein Instruktoren- Wochenende. Ich bin Schüler von Sifu Whitrod und offizieller Sifu der Yip Chee Keung Linie und der Schweizer Repräsentant für das Chow Gar Tong Long, so wie Sifu von Instruktor Michael Kocher aus Nürnberg.

Wegen dem Corona mussten wir den Start der Instruktoren-Ausbildung verschieben. Neuer Start-Termin, sprich erstes Wochenende des Kurses, ist: 19./20. September 2020 in Nürnberg.
