I was just informed yesterday that Doce Pares Master Joe Napial has died following an apparent massive heart attack while surfing in Southern California Monday morning.
Master Joe Napial was a chief instructor of Bandalan Doce Pares in Southern California, USA under Grand Master Alfredo Bandalan, Sr.
I consider myself fortunate and blessed to hopefully have considered Joe my friend. He was a wonderful example of an Escrimador and an even finer human being and true spirit.
Please keep Master Napial's family and Bandalan Doce Pares in your thoughts and prayers and possibly share a moment of silence in his honor with your classes.
Our hearts ache as we mourn his passing. Services will be held this Friday and Saturday in Long Beach and Los Alamitos.
