Dear Members,
We have been receiving many queries regarding the position of WMF and the Indoor Aian Games. The following information will clarify all doubts .

1) The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) upholds the decision of the
National Olympic Committee of Thailand(NOCT) and has authorized
the WMF to conduct the Muay event in the 1st Indoor Asian Games
to be held in Thailand from 12th to 19th November 2005.
2) The International Amateur Muaythai Federation(IAMTF) was
approved only by the President of NOCT in 1997. Similarly the
International Federation of Muaythai Amateur(IFMA) was also
approved only by the President of NOCT in 1998. These approvals
were not approved by the Executive Committee of the NOCT.
Therefore the Executive Committee of the NOCT cancelled the
recognition of both IAMTF and IFMA. The WMF was formed after the
Memorandum of Understanding was signed between IAMTF and IFMA.
The Executive Committee of the NOCT including the President and
Secretary General of the NOCT has unanimously recognized the WMF
in the meeting held on 31st May 2004.
3) The matters relating to the hosting and the conducting of all sports
events of the 1st Indoor Asian Games is the decision of the OCA
and the NOCT and the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) has no
power to make any decisions regarding this.
4) Amateur Muaythai Association of Thailand(AMAT) is still the
member of the NOCT.In the meeting of NOCT held last week, it was
decided that AMAT is still the member of NOCT. The AMAT is still
running in the same name and continues to enjoy the patronage of
His Highness the Crown Prince of Thailand. The AMAT has filed a legal
case in the court against SAT for the illegal action on part of the SAT
of terminating the membership of AMAT SAT. The SAT has taken this
illegal step without constituting a formal meeting.
