On June 15th, Ryo Chonan fired a verbal missile at his Bushido 8 opponent, Phil Baroni, with the following words, "If I win this fight, I think the American fighting fans will learn my name and I might be able to fight with someone from the UFC's champion class."

Baroni reaction, Evil or Very Mad Arrow Laughing
Baroni:
Number one, that’s a huge insult, and I’m taking it as that,
I am the championship class as far as the UFC or America or Pride. So, I take that comment very personally. He’s going to find out what an elite class fighter really is on Saturday because I really don’t think he’s been in there with one. When he gets hit by an elite fighter, he’s going to wish he had never asked for it. He’s going to wish he was in there with a B-class guy, not a world class fighter.

I don’t know what he’s thinking, but I’m very insulted by that comment,
He’s in for a rude f---- awakening. I’m not playing around here. I’m going to hurt him. I’m going to hurt him real badly. I’m going to make him pay for those comments. I’m looking forward to kicking him in the face and stomping on his head.

I don’t know if he beat Anderson Silva in every aspect of the game that night,
It was a good tough fight. The difference, though, is that he took Anderson Silva’s shots and he won’t be able to take my shots. That’s the difference. I’m not Anderson Silva, and he’s going to find that out very quickly when I touch him with my right hand. Once I hit him, he’s going to be looking to survive like my other opponents have.

But I’m going to break his will and knock him out. That’s it, man. He insulted me. I’m sick of this push the pace sh--. I’m sick of guys saying I’ll fade if my opponent pushes the pace. I’m in even better shape than I was for Minowa. I hope he does push the pace, because I’m going to be the one getting stronger as the fight goes on, not him.

I’m going to Japan to go to war. I’m going to take some shots, and I’m going to give some shots. I’m going to get bloody. And I’m going to bloody Chonan. I’m going to make this a battle of attrition, and I’m going to win that battle. I’m going to make it a war – 15 minutes hard, 20 minutes, 25 minutes, an hour, I don’t care. I’m in phenomenal shape, and I’m going to take it to him.

Man, I just don’t give a f--- anymore – fans, media, experts, anyone,
I’ll I care about is fighting. I’m a wrestler, bro. I used train my ass off, kill myself just to make weight, and then compete in front of 20 people. I don’t care about the crowds or whatever. I’m a blue-collar guy. I might have gotten caught up in things living in Las Vegas and fighting in the UFC. But I’m back to my roots, my blue-collar roots. I’ll fight here, the US, or Guam. I don’t care where it is. A fight is a fight, and I’m a fighter. That’s all I want to do. I don’t care about anything else.

Chonan reponse,

He's twice, maybe three times bigger than me,
I'm going to put pressure on him, though. He's a little different than the kind of fighters I've faced up until now so it's exciting for me, too. I'm not going to fight him in a test of strength. If he comes at me with a lot of power, I will parry and attack him when I see any opportunity. A fight isn't just a comparison of strength. There is also technique. I want to face him head-on but I want it to be a technical fight, too.

Baroni,

He’s saying that I’m the bigger, stronger fighter because he’s already making excuses for losing,
I’m not much taller than him. Am I stronger, faster, and the better athlete? Yes. So what? I know I’m the better wrestler. I’m the better kickboxer. I’ve got the better hands. And I know I’d beat him in a jiu-jitsu match – I’m undefeated in submission grappling. So, as far as him saying he is bringing the skills, he’s wrong. Don’t mistake the fact that I like to fight in wars for not having skills. I like to break guys physically and mentally. I like to look in their eyes and break their spirit, like I did to Minowa. And that’s what I’m going to do to Chonan. I’m going to crush him spiritually on the inside and then crush him on the outside.

I’m knocking this guy out no matter what,
I don’t care if an arm bar is there. I’m knocking him out. If I don’t knock him out, I’m going to beat him down for 15 minutes. I think he’s talking trash because this is the first time he’s fought in a co-main event. He wants to make the most of it. But he’s getting knocked out.

This guy has no idea what he’s getting himself into,
He’s underestimating me, which is ridiculous. But he’s going to find out very quickly.

Habs mal auf enlisch gelassen, kommt bei Baroni besser :D
