Mayweather had too much class and speed for Mitchell
Floyd Mayweather lived up to his pre-fight boasts, earning a sixth-round stoppage against Sharmba Mitchell on his welterweight debut in Portland.
The 28-year-old's comfortable win - his 35th in 35 fights - strengthened his claim to be the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

Mayweather finally ended the fight with a straight right which Mitchell felt was a low blow.

The referee stopped the contest with Mayweather firmly on top.

Mayweather, whose pre-fight talk suggested he viewed the bout as little more than a public workout, took control early on and never relinquished it.

The three-weight world champion won every round of the judges' scorecards and landed 85 punches to Mitchell's 31.

Mitchell struggled to live with Mayweather's superior hand speed and was sent to the canvas in the third round.

Mayweather even switched to southpaw in the fifth round, landing a vicious left to Mitchell's head.

Mayweather, the WBC light welterweight champion, is now eyeing lucrative fights against the likes of Oscar de la Hoya and Ricky Hatton.

Am liebsten würde ich mir jetzt einen Fight gegen den "Hitman" wünschen. Der würde mich im Moment mehr interessieren als gegen Oscar dela Hoya. Da bin ich aber echt gespannt wies weitergeht.

Stimmt ein Fight Hatton vs Mayweather wär auf jeden Fall interessant

Absolut. Ich meine Hatton vs Tszyu war zwar kein Technikleckerbissen, aber WAHNSINN wie der Hitman maschiert ist in diesem Fight. Vorallem die Stimmung in Manchester war ja echt der Knaller. Da ist bei denen in einem Kampf soviel Stimmung wie bei uns auf 5 Veranstaltungen zusammen nicht.
