Ich habe vor mir ein Buch/Video von Kelly S. Worden zu kaufen, aber ich habe schon einige
negative Sachen über ihn gehört.
Einige sagen er sei sehr gut, andere sagen er sei nur im chinesichen Kenpo gut und verkaufe teilweise auch Kenpo-Techniken unter dem Namen und andere wiederum sagen er könne gar nichts.
Was wisst und haltet ihr von ihm und könnt ihr vielleicht auch etwas über eines seiner Bücher /Videos sagen?

Hm, also ich habe einiges von Worden und habe ihn auch schon persönlich getroffen. Finde manches von ihm interessant, aber mit Kenpo habe ich den noch nie in Verbindung gebracht...

Mist, ich meinte gar nicht Kelly S. Worden sondern Joseph Simonet. Irgendwie verwechsel ich die immer wieder.
Hier ein Kommentar von amazon.com zu dem Video "Advanced Silat Concepts" von Simonet:

Joseph Simonet claims to be an expert in the Indonesian martial art of Serak Penjak Silat enough that he can release an instructional video tape containing advanced concepts. In fact Mr. Simonet knows almost nothing about Silat in general and Serak specifically. He sudied briefly with Victor and Willem DeTouars, who themselves despite their reputations studied very little Silat. Victor studied Serak from his older brother for one year, and then proceeded to make up the rest of his art. Simonet follows in his footsteps as far as Serak goes. Mr. Simonet may be an experienced martial artist in Chinese Kenpo, which is essentially what this tape contains. I think this video is insulting to the oldest DeTouars brother and to the DeVries family, as well as to the memory of their teachers John and Ernest DeVries as well as the teachers that came before them.

So, kann jemand auch etwas über Joseph Simonet aussagen? Bist du zufällig schonmal mit dem Cafetrinken gewesen Frank?

Nope, sorry, den kenne ich nicht persönlich. Habe aber sehr wohl in einigen US-Kampfkunstmagazinen den Streit um ihn und sein Serak und die Verbindung zu den DeThouars Brüdern verfolgt. Erlaube mir darüber aber kein Urteil. Ist mir eh egal ;)

Hab' noch etwas zu Simonet gefunden:

"First of all, we need to establish exactly what it is that is being presented on these tapes. If you look carefully at the cover of the tape (click it for a larger copy), you will see that it claims to teach elements of Pentjak Silat SERAK. It does NOT. What it in fact teaches are the djuru and langkah of the Tongkat Serak system. Tongkat Serak is what its creator Pak Victor de Thouars terms a carrier system; it might be described as a sub-system or a cut down version of the full Serak system. The concept is perhaps similar to that of the more well know Bukti Negara Serak system taught by Pak Paul de Thouars and practised by many JKD exponents. But whereas the Bukti Negara system is a system of pencak (ie artistic), Tongkat Serak was devised by Pak Vic to emphasise the silat aspect of the art (ie the combat. I contacted Pak Vic before writing this review and he confirms that what is taught herein is true Tongkat Serak and that Simonet is graded under him as a teacher of that art; however, Simonet is not a teacher of Serak and has studied very little under Pak Vic directly, his main teacher being Pak Vic's disciple MahaGuru Bob Vanatta. Simonet plays down his relationship with MahaGuru Vanatta and emphasises his contact with Pak Vic (and Dan Inosanto!!). While one might reasonably expect this from an advertising executive, I feel that it not what one would expect from an honourable teacher of a martial art who wishes to pay due respect to his own teachers. It is also interesting to note that when these tapes were initially advertised in the Paladin Press catalogue, it was claimed that Simonet was a Guru in the Serak system, the following issue contained a retraction of that statement."

Hmm, was willst du uns jetzt eigentlich mit dem Thread sagen? Die ganzen Kontroversen scheinen dir bekannt zu sein, warum postest du sie dann hier? Versteh ich nicht...

Ich hatte nur einige Behauptungen ohne irgendwelchen Hintergrund gehört und hatte auf Hintergrundinformationen gehofft.
Mittlerweile bin ich aber zufällig auf Informationen gestossen und wollte diese Informationen praktisch "für's Archiv" posten, so dass jemand der nach dem Thema sucht wenigstens ein paar Informationen erhält, ohne nachfragen zu müssen.
