Naja, Mark Kerr ist ja mit seinen Ringerohren auch zum Schönheitschirurgen gegangen. Randy Couture hat sicherlich auch seine Kontakte. :D
HAHA, alle bis auf sherdog stellen es so da, als ob es nur wegen fedor gewesen wäre.
randy hatte letztendlich derbe probleme mit dem management der ufc und deren gehälter. als ihm dana white samt fertitta ins gesicht logen, brachte es wohl das fass zum überlaufen!
besser kann es in der mma-welt nicht abgehen. fedor wehrt sich der ufc, randy wehrt sich. mark cuban hat evtl "heimlich" m-1 gekauft und wird mächtig geld in die fighter blasen.
evlt werden pro-fighter bald angemessen verdienen und nicht dreimal im jahr in der ufc auflaufen, $5k pro fight bekommen, wovon im jahr dann noch ein paar $1000 für arztrechnungen draufgehen und sobald sie mehr als einen fight verlieren, der contract nicht verlängert wird!
ohoh dana, das war nix!!!
randy spricht es aus:

Das wird richtig spannend. Cuban tritt nicht an um zu verlieren. Geile Sache. Vielleicht kommt es ja doch zum ersehnten Endgegner-Kampf zwischen Randy und Fedor. :D

Und die Aussage vom Randy das er Dinge am Laufen hat und er keine Probleme (UFC) braucht. Und das er gleich komplett aus der UFC austritt...

Eines ist sicher: Starker Wettbewerb kann nur gut sein. Für (fast) alle. Besonders aber für die Fighter.
Die bisherigen Gehälter sind auf jeden Fall lausig. Der geplante Markteintritt von Cuban dürfte der größte Boost für die Branche werden.

Imagine if, in October of 1993, Michael Jordan had said he was retiring from the NBA not just because he had nothing left to prove in basketball, but because he was sick of the lack of respect that Commissioner David Stern had shown him. And then imagine if Stern had responded by saying Jordan was retiring because of his "scumbag agent," whom Stern claimed he had "bitch slapped."
If that had happened, there would have been a whole lot of people saying it was time for Stern to go. Sports leagues are big businesses. The heads of big businesses aren't supposed to drive valued employees away, and they're supposed to conduct themselves with some decorum.
But that's exactly what has happened in the UFC this week. Its best and most popular fighter, Randy Couture, has retired, and he cited his belief that UFC President Dana White takes advantage of him. White responded by calling Couture's agent a "scumbag" and saying he had "bitch-slapped" him.
White has been great for UFC and the sport of mixed martial arts. In fact, the sport of mixed martial arts literally might not even exist in the United States if it weren't for White, who saved it when legislators were calling it "human cockfighting" and threatening to make it illegal. But just as the kid who launches an internet start-up out of his parents' basement eventually needs to bring in an MBA if he really wants to turn it into a legitimate business, the sport of mixed martial arts might now need to push White aside.
That's not to say UFC can push White aside, because in many respects White is UFC. I guess it's technically possible that the Fertitta brothers, the co-owners of UFC, could force White out, but that's not going to happen.
But maybe another mixed martial arts organization needs to hire a commissioner in the David Stern / Roger Goodell mode, someone who's a businessman and a marketer, someone who understands how the head of a sports league needs to conduct himself. Someone who can attract the best mixed martial arts talent, pay the fighters a fair wage while still running a profitable enterprise, and not infuriate the talent.
Randy Couture is the best thing going in the sport of mixed martial arts, a guy who's smart, articulate, great at what he does and doing something absolutely extraordinary, stepping into the Octagon at the age of 44 and beating guys who are 20 years younger than him. If Dana White has driven Couture out of the sport, then Dana White is bad for the sport.

Der Yahoo Artikel ist echt super und trifft den Nagel auf den Kopf. White und die UFC haben es geschafft .... und sie schaffen es den Sport stagnieren zu lassen, weil sie zu unprofessionell sind den Sport weiter zu entwickeln - schlicht aus Habgier und Kurzsichtigkeit.
Mann kann nur hoffen, dass durch den Erfolg von MMA, die UFC über kurz oder lang richtige Konkurrenz bekommt - für den Sport, die Kämpfer und die Zuschauer.
hmm Randy Coture vs Fedor...
also im Ring denke ich würde Fedor ihn schlagen(armbar)1runde... im cage würde der fight anders aussehen coture würde ihn versuchen am cage zuhalten und immer wieder elbogen ins ziel setzten denke in der 3runde würde dann der ringrichter den fight stopen aufgrund schwerer cut verletzung von fedor.
was meint ihr?

Randy Couture's good friend and training partner Bas Rutten spoke recently with Mauro Ranallo of Fight Network Radio. They touched on a variety of topics, including Couture's abrupt resignation from the UFC . Below are a couple of excerpts from that conversation:
Ranallo: You know [Couture] about as well as anybody else Bas. Did you see this coming? And what’s your reaction?
Rutten: You know, I didn’t see it coming at all. But the thing is this, and you and I both said it the best “people mess with us, you know, and it’s not a nice situation.” You work and you quit, and that’s what we did also, so you know if he didn’t feel comfortable there, I’m supporting Randy. You shouldn’t work at a place where you don’t feel comfortable or when you think that people are kind of betraying you. So I don’t know if it’s true of course, but if it comes from Randy; Randy’s not a liar. So yeah, I wouldn’t work in the same environment.
Ranallo: How do you think this is going to affect not only the UFC, but the entire mixed martial arts world? I mean Randy Couture really has become the face of the sport. You know next to yourself Bas, probably no one more popular in the sport. This is a huge loss for the UFC, is it not?
Rutten: It is a big loss, yes, it’s a big loss. I don’t see this going out good for the UFC, you know listen, the UFC’s big and they will have a little trouble of course. Just to lose Randy Couture, an Icon; that is just a very sad thing and a very bad thing for them.
