We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved student Proffessor Salem ASSLI, loving husband to Shiyun Chen, brother, son, friend and teacher to so many students around the world
Words cannot express the sorrow and sadness we feel from the loss of Salem .
Salem touched our lives and will stay in our hearts forever.
Salem left us today November 5th, 2021.
In March 2021 Salem was in a severe motorcycle accident. He was hit by another vehicle while riding two blocks away from his home to get some breakfast. He was delivered to the emergency room at UCLA hospital with ten broken ribs, a severely cut tongue, a broken nose, a tooth in his lung, a bleeding kidney and liver, and a completely crushed leg bone. Salem went through several surgeries and doctors were able to save his leg. With months spent in the hospital and rehab, Salem never gave up and was determined to walk and one day kick again. Salem was left with a compromised immune system and re occurring blood clots. Salem was awaiting another surgery on his leg and getting back to his life with CiCi
when he contracted covid in September Salem was hospitalized in September in the ICU for 56 days, showing incredible strength, courageously fighting for his life, today the fight is over .
Salem left us peacefully, with his loving wife CiCi by his side.
Please keep Salem’s wife Shiyun Chen, his brother and mother in your prayers as they go through this devastating loss
Salem your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure.
You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
