Standard Sao Lim Kung Fu Master 'Kung Fu Lee'

    Hi everybody,

I think everybody knows about the ‘Sao Lim’ style of Master P’ng Chye Khim. Only his students use the particular transcription ‘Sao Lim’, instead of Shaolin (or Siulam etc).
So I thought. Amongst the websites featuring the words ‘Sao Lim’ of his students like Ong Ming Thong, Dominique Falquet etc, in Canada, Switserland and Germany, I also found this website of teacher called S. B. Lee:

    www.kungfulee.com

Unlike the others mentioned, he doesn’t state to be a student of Master P’ng Chye Khim. He talks about the ‘enhancement of the style he was taught in a Sao Lim monestary of Malaysia.’ He does have a picture of himself and Master P’ng on his site, and uses the same logo's.

Intrigued I ask the members of this forum: does anybody know him?

Why not write him an email, asking himself about his relation to that master, and what's the name of the "Malaysian sao lim monastery" ?
However, there are for sure buddhist monasteries in Malaysia, and you never know if there's a monk or two trained in Shaolin or similar fighting arts residing at the monastery at some time.

    Standard S. B. Lee

I should write to him myself, but I just wanted to know if somebody out there knows (about) him.

I know there are Sao Lim schools in Germany (from Master P'ng), so I thought I should try here.

    Klaus ,do you know him?

No. I know there's a lot of fake teachers out there, it doesn't have to mean also this guy must be.

May I add that the claim to do "enhancements" to the style originally learned should lead either to minor things imported from other styles, or does not yield too strong of a credibility.

In recent years the arts of Sek Ko Sam have become more popular and the Sao Lim schools have contributed to that. But the thing is, all of them (sao lim schools) name P'ng Chye Khim as their 'director', so to speak. Nobody even mentiones S.B. Lee, except Rene Scharff on his double dragon site. And he is also mentoined on http://members.lycos.nl/saolim/ but there's a dead end as well (no respons from the webmaster yet; thanks for the links anyway South Paw)

Considering the reactions on this forum, he's fairly unknown, which is surprising as S.B. Lee himself says (on his site) that he has been teaching (or living anyway in Europe since the seventies. Considering the claims of S.B. Lee I expected at least a few peolpe to know him.

He started teaching in Germany first.

Who did S.B. Lee teach in those thirty odd years ? Anybody?
Does anybody, except for South Paw, know him? Anybody?

    laikang,

The students of Sifu Lee in recent years have been Rene Scharff, Jon van der Spek, Peter Vermeer, H. Manaa and Simon Scholten (still a regular student).

Rene Scharff also has students in Germany (Düsseldorf, Werden, Essen). Peter Markus also studied under Sifu Lee

Most recent pictures of Sifu Lee with his old time students:

On one of the websites you can read that certificates for the new appointed masters are signed by S.B. Lee and Martial Arts Adviser P'ng Chye Khim from Penang.
    http://www.geocities.com/saolim_kungfu/saolim_frame.htm
On this website is also a picture available of S.B. Lee with his Sifu P'ng Chye Khim.

Problem with Rene Scharff is his claim to have studied Hung Gar Kungfu:
    http://home-6.tiscali-business.nl/~t484585/stamboom.htm

On this page you can see Kam Tung Sijo which atually is Grandmaster Tang Fung, a student of Wong Fei Hung. He is connected to Ta Hung Men master Chan. But this connection is dubious.
