Augmented reality software could turn smartphones into Imperial probe droids

The ‘augmented reality’ mobile game Pokémon Go, which uses the player’s smartphone camera to ‘add’ Pokémon to real-world locations, has ties to the CIA.

The developer of Pokémon Go, Niantic, Inc., was founded by John Hanke, who previously received funding from the CIA’s venture capital firm In-Q-Tel to develop what eventually became Google Earth.

In-Q-Tel was once described as an “independent strategic investment firm that identifies innovative technology solutions to support the missions of the U.S. Intelligence Community.”

It’s easy to see why the CIA would have an interest in the software behind Pokémon Go; the game utilizes the player’s camera and gyroscope to display an image of a Pokémon as though it were in the real world, such as the player’s apartment complex or workplace bathroom.

Software like that could theoretically turn millions of smartphone users into ‘Imperial probe droids’ who take real-time, ground-level footage of their cities and homes, reaching into dark alleyways and basements which spy satellites and Google cars can’t reach.

For example, in the 2008 film The Dark Knight, Bruce Wayne intentionally places a back door into cell phones sold by his company to implement a city-wide sonar grid.

Did that scene from the film reveal the intent behind ‘augmented reality’ software?

In the early 2000s, In-Q-Tel invested in Keyhole Inc., the company founded by Hanke which developed 3D “flyby” images of buildings and terrain from geospatial data collected by satellites.

The name “Keyhole” was a homage to the KH spy satellites first launched by the American National Reconnaissance Office.

Google later purchased Keyhole in 2004 and rolled its technology into Google Earth.

The CIA established In-Q-Tel in 1999 as its venture capital arm to “identify and invest in companies developing cutting-edge information technologies that serve United States national security interests,” according to the firm itself.

“If you want to keep up with Silicon Valley, you need to become part of Silicon Valley,” says Jim Rickards, an adviser to the U.S. intelligence community familiar with In-Q-Tel’s activities. “The best way to do that is have a budget because when you have a checkbook, everyone comes to you.”

Pokemon Blattgrün auf den GBAsp weil ich dabei liegen kann und mir auf amazon Luzifer anschaue, finde aber die serie nicht so toll. Ich hasse eh die ganze Gott thematik.
Ich überlege mir einen zweiten GBAsp zu kaufen aber so billig sind die nicht (je nach dem zwischen 30 und 100 euro) bei den ganzen Pokemon games sieht es fast genauso aus. Da muss man halt schauen, ob man da was zu einen nicht zu übertriebenen preis bekommt. Schummelmodul ist richtig teuer. wieso hatte ich mir damals nie eins gefaut. die für den GBA kosten so alle 100€ früher hat man die für 20 euro bekommen.

Ich möchte doch nur, die EV und DV sache bisschen beschleunigen und die eine Eilend frei schalten, die man sonst eigentlich nur über ein event frei bekommt.
Da kann man Lugia, Mew, und noch andere Legis fangen. Glaube alle bis auf 2 Legis würde man auch ohne schummel modulbekommen wenn man sich die gba games der 3 Generation für den GBA und für die GameCube kauft. Aber halt 2 würden trotzdem fehlen. Wenn ich einen vollen monat durch habe, schaue ich mal, was nach dem kauf eines neuen fahrad noch übrig bleibe. Evtl. hole ich die DS Pokemon games nach zumindest die Remakes bis zur 3 Generation (Gold Silber, Rubin Saphir remake).

2 GBA kommt auf jeden fall. Ich will ja Simsala und so bekommen, dazu muss ich ja eh tauschen. Zudem gibt es auf der Feuerrot noch andere Pokemon als auf der Blattgrün und umgekehrt.

Leider ist es doof, dass Spezial und Angriff typ abhängig sind und nicht attacvke (Sprich Feuer, Wasser, Elektro ... sind immer Spezial sowie Gestein, Boden, Unlicht, Geist immer Physisch sind.

Daher Feuerschlag Spezial. Das bemiteleidenste Pokemon ist Garados. Sehr hohen angriffs wert aber kann kaum physische attacken und die es kann sind meisten so lala. Erdbeben gehört zur ausnahme.

Glaube Dragoran geht es bisschen besser weil es auf Gestein, Boden, Kampf zugang hat. Drachen attacken sind ja leider spezial.
Aber der 4Generation ist es zum glück nicht mehr so (sprich die ganzen Remakes ab der 2 Genration sind davon befreit und halt die ganzen neuen sachen).
Ich hol mir evtl. bald sogar das game Coloseum dann kann ich auf meine feuerot Feuerigel züchten oder zumindest das Igelava da aufnehmen und zu Tornupto weiter entwickeln (falls das nicht schon davor geschieht). Nactara und Psiana bekomme ich ja im Gamecube game auch dass ich dann auf die edition weiter tauschen kann, aber muss mir neben dem game auch noch ein verbindungskabel für die gamecube holen. Pfff.
